Public Input Sought on Green Bay Levee & Drainage District Alteration

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District is reviewing a request from the Green Bay Levee & Drainage District No. 2 located near Burlington, Iowa, to alter the height of their levee. The Corps’ review process includes a public comment period to evaluate the public’s interest in the proposed alteration. The public comment period is currently open and runs through Nov. 30.

The Green Bay Levee was authorized by Congress under the Flood Control Act of 1954 and federally constructed in 1966. The levee protects approximately 13,330 acres of agricultural land on the Mississippi River, Skunk River and Lost Creek flood plain.
