  • Cedar Rapids Flood Risk Management Feasibility Study Continues

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District, in partnership with the City of Cedar Rapids, continues to review and evaluate flood risk management alternatives for the City. The Corps has completed a preliminary analysis for an alternative that mirrors the City of Cedar Rapids’ preferred plan. This alternative includes levees and floodwalls on both sides of the Cedar River built to June 2008 record flood levels.
  • Corps Seeks Contractors for Dresden Island Dam Emergency Scour Repairs

    MORRIS, Ill. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District is soliciting contract proposals for emergency scour repair work at Dresden Island Lock and Dam, 1-1/2 miles downstream from the mouth of the Kankakee River and approximately 15 miles southwest of Joliet, Illinois. Due to the urgency of this repair, the solicitation period is abbreviated to close on January 4, 2010.
