Elk Rock State Park

Elk Rock is operated by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and is located on the southwest side of Lake Red Rock. Elk Rock provides a fine setting for camping, boating, and horseback riding. A modern shower building and trailer dumping station are available. The camping area contains three "loops" with electrical and non-electrical sites. Camping permits are obtained by self-registration at the campground entrance.

This area features a 13-mile equestrian trail, and provides the only equestrian camping area at the lake. The equestrian campground features electrical and non-electrical sites. A modern shower building, horse stalls, hitch rails and riding arena are available. A day use picnic area is located one mile north of the main park entrance on Highway 14. This area has two open shelters, a modern restroom and a foot trail access to the lake. One shelter may be reserved for a fee through the park ranger.

Two boat ramps at Elk Rock are available for lake access - NOTE:  The DNR ramps are not open for overnight use.
