Visitor Information

Getting here isn't too difficult as there are many routes to and from the Rock Island District. It is important to remember that the Mississippi River flows east to west at this point, not north to south. This change in river flow can set you off course when navigating around the Quad Cities.

We are directly west of Chicago in the middle of the Mississippi River on an island known as Rock Island Arsenal or Arsenal Island. Although located in the middle of the Mississippi between the states of Illinois and Iowa, our formal address is Rock Island, Illinois.

SECURITY CHECK

The Visitor Center and Clock Tower are located on the west end of Arsenal Island in Rock Island, Ill. Due to the facillities being located on a military installation you will need to pass through a security checkpoint upon entering the island. Inform the guards of your destination as the Locks and Dam 15 Visitor Center or Clock Tower Building. Visitors 16 years of age or older are required to have photo identification and all vehicles are subject to search by Arsenal security.
