Announcing Reissuance of the Nationwide Permits (NWPs), Illinois Regional Conditions, 401 Water Quality Certifications & CZMA

On January 8, 2026, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) published a final action in the Federal Register (91 FR 768) announcing the reissuance of 56 existing nationwide permits (NWPs) and one new NWP, as well as the reissuance of NWP general conditions and definitions with some modifications. These 57 NWPs will go into effect on March 15, 2026, and will expire on March 15, 2031. One NWP was not reissued.

Rock Island District proposes to re-authorize a regional permit to authorize the construction, modification and maintenance of non-commercial, recreational, single-family, community and public, floating and/or pile-supported dock facilities; and associated floating and or pile-supported, water-based structures in Section 10 Waters. Associated water-based structures include, but are not limited to walkways, fixed decks, boat hoists and jet-ski floats.

The U.S Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) Rock Island District have updated and reissued Regional General Permit 16 for bank stabilization activities within Rock Island, St Louis, and Memphis Districts in Illinois pursuant to 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 USC 1344) and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act (33 USC 403).
