Recreation Areas Reopen as Water Recedes

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project is reopening several recreation areas along the Mississippi River that were recently closed due to flooding.  

Recreation areas that have reopened include Bulger’s Hollow campground and boat ramp near Clinton, Iowa, Lock and Dam 13 boat ramp near Fulton, Illinois, and Fisherman’s Corner campground near Hampton, Illinois. The Thomson Causeway recreation area in Thomson, Illinois, has partially reopened but the Hickory Point Loop within the campground remains closed due to high water. Cattail Slough recreation area near Fulton, Illinois, remains closed at this time.
