  • Earth Day Cleanup at Andalusia Slough

    Andalusia, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project invites you to celebrate Earth Day by participating in a cleanup at Andalusia Slough along the Mississippi River. Free lunch will be provided following the day’s work. This event will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Andalusia Slough Recreation Area.

  • FREE Boating Safety Classes

    Pleasant Valley, IA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces they will be offering five different opportunities to attend a free boating safety education class. The classes will be held on the following dates: March 16th, March 30th, April 13th, April 27th, and May 11th 2013.
  • Corps awards $4 million contract to build Mississippi River islands in Pool 9

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded a $4 million contract to McHugh Excavating and Plumbing, Inc., of Onalaska, Wis., Feb. 5 to begin construction on the second and final stage of its Capoli Slough Islands habitat restoration project, taking place five miles south of Lansing, Iowa, in Pool 9 on the Mississippi River.

Learn about the Historic Clock Tower building as you climb the stairs to the top. Waiting there is a spectacular view of the Mississippi River where you will have the opportunity to see Bald Eagles who visit our area during the cold winter months.
