Coralville Lake is hosting an Earth Day Event April 25 - 26, 2014 - To help restore the natural habitat around Coralville Lake and enhance the park and recreation areas.

What will volunteers do?
Many service projects are available such as shoreline clean-up; invasive species removal; campground clean-up and preparation; and timber stand improvement.

How does the Event Work?:
Pre-registration is required by April 18 to ensure two nights of free camping and lunch for the first 200 participants to register. Late registrations will be accepted with no guarantee of lunch on Saturday. Click here to download the registration form. 

Event Agenda

Friday, April 25, 2014 – Dam Complex:

5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.: Check in and registration at West Overlook Entrance Station Booth. Get set up for your two nights of FREE camping.

6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Earth Day Welcome and Tipi Assembly.

Welcome and Tipi assembly will be held at the East Overlook Shelters (see location on the registration form). Volunteers can participate in assembling the tipi and Earth Day activities.

Saturday, April 26, 2014:

8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.: Welcome message and project information for group leaders at the East Overlook Shelters.

8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.: Form groups and work on your project. Field snacks will be provided (see Project Description Sheet).

1:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Lunch – lunch will be PROVIDED for the first 200 people to register and will be served at East Overlook.

2:30 p.m. through the remainder of the weekend: On your own to discover and enjoy our beautiful park!

The Corps of Engineers at Coralville Lake recommends participating volunteers wear appropriate outdoor clothing (rain gear, long sleeve shirt, long pants, sturdy shoes, gloves and a hat) to provide protection from ticks and poison ivy. Volunteers are also advised to bring plenty of drinking water and sunscreen.
