ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, as part of its 150th Anniversary celebration, will host a public open house aboard the Motor Vessel Mississippi August 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. while the vessel is docked at River Heritage Park in downtown Davenport, Iowa.

The open house is free to the public and will include tours of the vessel as well as displays depicting the 150 year history of the Rock Island District.

The MV Mississippi is the largest towboat on the Mississippi River. It is owned and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The MRC will conduct an inspection tour on portions of the Upper Mississippi River the first two weeks of August to include stops in the Quad Cities August 1 and 2.

Those who wish to attend the public open house are advised to bring a valid photo ID. For more information about the public open house, call the Rock Island District Corporate Communications office at (309) 794-5729.
