Miss River Recreation Area Important Updates

Published Jan. 15, 2015

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces five important updates to the camping and reservation program.  Overnight camping fees for Class A sites are now $10 for non-electric and $20 for sites with electric.  Camping fees for our Class B sites are now $8.00 per night while Class C sites will remain at $6.00 per night.  The discount passes, such as the America the Beautiful and/or Golden Age/Access passes will continue to be accepted.

Another change is that all Class A sites are now 100% reserveable.   Campers will still be able to “first-come, first serve” camp, as long as the site isn’t reserved.  Making all sites 100% reserveable gives everyone, including the transient camper, a fair opportunity to camp.  In making this change, the minimum booking window has decreased from 3 days down to 1 day.  Also, the minimum length of stay was reduced to one day during any part of the week.  The maximum stay is still 14 days in a 28 day period.

Class A recreation areas include Grant River, Blanding Landing, Thomson Causeway, Fisherman’s Corner, Clark’s Ferry, and Shady Creek.  The new season dates are opening May 1st and closing on the 4th Sunday of October.
