• Corps of Engineers awards contract to repair Mississippi River habitat islands

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, recently awarded a $2.4 million contract to Water Works Dock & Boat Lifts, Inc. of Stoddard, Wisconsin, to repair a Mississippi River habitat restoration project approximately 40 miles south of La Crosse, Wisconsin, that was damaged by recent flooding events.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, announces the Mississippi River Visitor Center at Locks and Dam 15 on the Rock Island Arsenal will reopen to the public Sunday, May 23. Summer visiting hours through Labor Day weekend will be from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. seven days a week.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, has released the Lock and Dam 22 Fish Passage Improvement Project Implementation Report with Integrated Supplemental Environmental Assessment and is seeking public review through June 19.
  • Lock and Dam 16 closed to visitors during construction

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, announces visitor access to Lock and Dam 16 will be restricted starting May 10 due to road construction. The entrance to the visitor area, including the observation platform and restroom facility will not be accessible during the closure. Construction is expected to last up to one month.
  • Ribbon Cutting to be held in celebration of Fort Dodge Greenbelt Trails Project completion

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, and the city of Fort Dodge invite the public to a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the Fort Dodge Greenbelt Trails Project. The ceremony will take place May 18 at 11 a.m. near a trail access site at the corner of 16th St. SW. and 14th Ave. SW.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, invites the public and media to attend a christening ceremony for the Motor Vessel Quincy at the Clat Adams Bicentennial Park in Quincy, Illinois, Friday, April 30, at noon. Following the ceremony, public tours of the vessel will be available until 4 p.m.
  • Corps to resume collection of recreation fees at Coralville Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, will resume collection of recreational day use fees for boat ramps at Coralville Lake beginning April 1. Launching fees are $5 per day, per vehicle and can be paid with a credit or debit card via the self-serve machines at each boat ramp location. No cash or coins will be accepted at Mehaffey and West Overlook. Sandy Beach boat ramp will continue to be free of charge.

No cash or coins will be accepted at Cherry Glen, Sandpiper and Lakeview Main boat ramps. Lakeview Highwater boat ramp remains a cash or check only ramp with envelopes provided at the dropbox.
