Coralville Lake Begins Drawdown

Published March 15, 2018
Iowa City, Iowa – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District started lowering Coralville Reservoir on March 10 as part of its annual drawdown. The process of dropping the level of the reservoir by four feet in the spring is done in accordance with the operation plan to increase storage capacity in the reservoir. The target elevation of 679 mean sea level should be reached by March 16 or 17.

Due to the low water conditions, boating is not advised upstream of the Lake MacBride Boat Ramp. Buoys are being placed up river of the boat ramp advising boaters of the shallow water hazards.
