Rising river forces closure of recreation areas for third time

Published June 25, 2013

Muscatine, IA - The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces the continued full closure of Blanchard Island, Kilpeck Landing, and Ferry Landing Recreation Areas.  Partial closures of Shady Creek, Andalusia Slough, and Clark’s Ferry are also taking effect.  These closures are a result of the third high water event on the Mississippi River this season.

If you had reservations for camping during the next two weeks, your reservations have been cancelled with a full refund.  You can also check Recreation.gov or call them at 877-444-6777 to see if further reservations will be affected.  All camp sites will be re-opened to the public when the areas have dried out sufficiently to allow safe access by vehicles and debris has been removed from the area.
