This page is designed to inform adjoining property owners, residents, and other interested individuals about the rules and regulations governing the management of public lands at Lake Red Rock. These guidelines align with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers missions, as authorized by the United States Congress, which include flood risk management, low flow augmentation, environmental stewardship, and recreation. All management decisions prioritize the integrity of the Lake Red Rock Project’s purposes, ensuring the lake, lands, and waters are preserved for the enjoyment of current and future generations.
Public Land Use Guidelines
Private or exclusive use of public lands is strictly prohibited. All citizens, including property owners adjacent to public lands, share equal rights and privileges. One of the most valued privileges is pedestrian access. Most public lands managed by USACE are open to pedestrian traffic, except for controlled access areas and secure operational zones, which are clearly marked on maps and identified with gates and/or signage.
Federal Land Boundaries
The federal government acquired land for floodwater storage, release, and other operational purposes essential to managing the Lake Red Rock Project. Public land boundaries are marked with monuments, typically set at ground level or slightly above. It is illegal to disturb these boundary markers. Common boundary markers include orange property boundary posts and small yellow metal signs labeled “US Government Boundary.” Additional styles of markers may also be used to define government property at Lake Red Rock.
