This project consists of work throughout the entire state of Iowa

The purpose of this study is to develop a comprehensive database in support of state-wide floodplain mapping and flood risk management. The levee centerline of all levees within the state of Iowa are being identified and mapped.

All levee data has been identified and centerline mapped. The mapping data has completed quality assurance review. The data has also had levee height analysis using LIDAR information. The final step is to identify leveed areas.

The remaining data will be reviewed for quality assurance, including FEMA MLI and Iowa DNR work. Additionally funding will be used to coordinate with the State of Iowa Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), Iowa DNR and the National Levee Database Team; Screen non-NLD levees for compatibility with WRDA 2014 language; Convert non-NLD 2-D levee centerlines to 3-D centerlines using IA LIDAR; Develop leveed area polygons for all non-NLD levees.

In FY16, the mapping of the centerline of all levees were drafted. The data is currently under review for quality assurance.
