Saylorville Lake Closes Additional Areas Due to High Lake Levels and Releases - July 3, 2018

Due to high lake levels and releases, several Saylorville Lake facilities are closed. NW 78th Avenue through the spillway will be closed to all access on July 3, 2018. The Saylorville Dam and Bob Shetler Recreation Area (including fishing access, campground, and picnic shelters) will closed to all traffic including vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian on July 4, 2018. No one will be allowed near the dam, spillway, or river below the dam. 

 

Cherry Glen Boat Ramp, Lakeview High Water Boat Ramp, Lakeview Main Boat Ramp, Sandpiper Recreation Area (including beach, boat ramp, and picnic shelter), Oak Grove Beach, and Cottonwood Day Use Area are closed.  No boat ramps are open on Saylorville Lake.  Several portions of the Neal Smith Trail are also closed.

 

Please obey all barricades, fencing, gates and closure signs as they are placed for public and facility safety.

 

Visitors may receive current lake information including lake levels, outflows, and area closures by calling 515-276-0433. For current boat ramp availability call 515-509-2015 30#. The Saylorville Lake website and Facebook page will be updated frequently with area closures. Lake level information and predictions can be accessed at www.rivergages.com.  Saylorville Lake is in the Rock Island District, Des Moines River Basin.
