Recreation Closures Continue at Coralville Lake

Published Sept. 19, 2018

IOWA CITY, Iowa - All public day use boat ramps managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Coralville Lake remain closed at this time. This includes the Curtis Bridge, Mehaffey Bridge, Sandy Beach, Sugar Bottom, and West Overlook boat ramps. Lake MacBride Boat Ramp which is managed by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources also remains closed. West Overlook Recreation Area campsites 61-89 and Sugar Bottom Recreation Area campsites 156-181 and 192-214 as well as the campground boat ramp at Sugar Bottom also remain closed.

Boaters wishing to boat this weekend are encouraged to contact local marinas on the lake to check availability and cost for launching. As a reminder, boaters should slow down and keep watch for floating debris and submerged hazards including recreation facilities that may be inundated by water. Always wear your life jacket and make sure someone on shore knows where you plan to boat and when you will return.

Water level information is available online at www.rivergages.com. Select Rock Island District, then Iowa River Basin to find Coralville Lake Reservoir on the website. For additional information or questions, contact the Coralville Lake Project Office at 319-338-3543 ext. 6300.
