Debris removal at Saylorville Lake

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, reminds recreational users that floating debris can create hazardous boating and swimming conditions at Saylorville Lake. Seasonal removal of debris is ongoing however complete clearing is impossible and downstream movement is a natural part of reservoir management.

Debris is not always visible and often floats just beneath the surface of the water. Users should take extreme caution when operating a vessel on the lake and vessel occupants should always wear their life jackets. Operators should also reduce speed, avoid boating after dark and refrain from alcohol while on the water.
