Rising River Water Forced Closure of Recreation Areas

Published April 21, 2013

Muscatine, IA - The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces the closure of Shady Creek, Clark’s Ferry, Blanchard Island, Andalusia Slough, Kilpeck Landing, and Ferry Landing Recreation Areas.  These closures are a result of the high water event on the Mississippi River.  If you had reservations for camping during the next two weeks, your reservations have been cancelled with a full refund.  You can also check Recreation.gov or call them at 877-444-6777 to see if further reservations will be affected.  All camp sites will be re-opened to the public when the areas have dried out sufficiently to allow safe access by vehicles and debris has been removed from the area.
