Illinois Waterway Visitor Center Closes Again Due to High Water

Ottawa, Ill. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, has temporarily closed the Illinois Waterway Visitor Center located at Starved Rock Lock and Dam in Ottawa, Illinois, due to high water on the Illinois River.

Minor to moderate flooding is ongoing on much of the Illinois Waterway due to recent rainfall events. Due to additional rainfall in the forecast there is no estimation on when the visitor center will reopen. The visitor center will remain closed until water levels recede and visitors can safely access the building.
