Corps of Engineers to Host Sangamon River Conceptual Modeling Workshop Town Hall

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, will host a Town Hall meeting on Thursday, August 13, to discuss the results of the recent Sangamon River Conceptual Modeling Workshop and to receive input and ideas from the public regarding sedimentation concerns associated with the Sangamon and Illinois rivers. The Town Hall meeting will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Beardstown City Council Chamber located at 105 W. 3rd Street in Beardstown, Illinois.

The goal of the Sangamon River Conceptual Modeling Workshop was to identify problems and opportunities concerning sediment in the Sangamon River Watershed. State, local, and federal stakeholders attended the workshop including individuals from: the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, The Nature Conservancy, Ducks Unlimited, Illinois State Water Survey, Sanganois State Fish and Wildlife Area, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Cass County, and local levee districts. 

A short presentation will be held during the Town Hall meeting at 6 p.m. and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff will be available before and after for questions.
