Reservable Campsites to Increase at Coralville Lake in 2017

IOWA CITY – The popularity of the campsite reservation program at Coralville Lake has grown significantly in recent years. In response to demand, the Corps of Engineers will add over 100 campsites to the program in 2017. At that time, all sites in Cottonwood, Linder Point, Tailwater East, Tailwater West, West Overlook, Sugar Bottom and Sandy Beach Campgrounds will be available for reservation.

Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance of arrival date, but no less than 2 days prior to arrival. Reservations can be made by calling the National Recreation Reservation Service toll-free at (877) 444-6777, going on-line at, using a smartphone app. or making a reservation at any of the campground entrance stations.

If a site has not been reserved, it is available for walk-in camping on a first-come, first-serve basis. Based on historical campsite occupancy, it is anticipated that walk-in camping opportunities will be available throughout the recreation season.
