    Rock Island, Ill. – Memorial Day weekend is considered the kick-off to summer and that means millions of Americans will visit U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) lands and waters for the holiday. Park rangers and volunteers will be working this weekend and all summer to increase visitor’s awareness of the importance of practicing sensible and thoughtful activities in and around USACE waters.
  • Military and public invited to paddle on the Mississippi River

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - (May 21, 2011) Military personnel and their families as well as the public are invited to a Summer of Paddling 2012 event on Thursday, June 7 from 1-4 p.m., at Sylvan Slough on the grounds of the Moline Rowing Club in Moline, Ill. Participants will learn paddling techniques and have an opportunity to kayak or canoe in Sylvan Slough, a backwater area of the Mississippi River.

The lease is for a five-year term. Applications will be evaluated based upon the highest annual rental proposed.
