  • Public Notice: Antidegradation Alternatives Analysis for Coralville Lake

    Iowa City, IA – Notice is hereby given that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, Coralville Lake has completed a draft antidegradation alternatives analysis for discharge of treated wastewater to the Iowa River. The action being considered is the addition of a discharge pipe to the existing sewage lagoon. The Iowa River is protected for Class A1 primary contact recreational, B(WW-1) warm water, HH human health and C drinking water supply beneficial uses.
  • Clark’s Ferry Recreation Area Boat Ramp Repairs

    Montpelier, IA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be completing repairs to the Clark’s Ferry Recreation Area boat ramp courtesy loading dock beginning on September 23, 2015.

  • New Visitor Center Hours

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mississippi River Project announces that the Visitor Center located at Locks and Dam 15 will be closed on Sundays and Mondays until Memorial Day beginning Sunday, September 20, 2015.
  • Rock Island District waives fees on National Public Lands Day, Sept. 26

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Rock Island District announces it will waive day use fees normally charged at boat launch ramps and swimming beaches at its recreation areas in recognition of National Public Lands Day on Sept. 26.
  • Swimming Not Recommended at Coralville Beaches

    Due to a high level of bacteria found in the water at Coralville Lake, swimming is NOT recommended at Sandy Beach or either of the Sugar Bottom beaches. Levels at West Overlook were at safe levels.
  • Labor Day Weekend Tours of Locks and Dam #15

    Rock Island, Ill. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces they will be offering free tours of Locks and Dam #15 on Saturday, Sunday and Monday this Labor Day Holiday Weekend. These tours will be offered at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and will each last one hour. These will be the last public Locks and Dam tours for the summer season. Visitors on these guided tours will learn about the history of Locks and Dam #15, the Government Bridge and how they both work while walking around the lock.
