It’s a safe practice to have a pre boating checklist to ensure that everybody will be safe out on the water. Always remember, life Jackets Worn…Nobody Mourns.
  • Learn about Water Safety While Enjoying America's National Past Time

    IOWA CITY – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Coralville Lake will be sponsoring a Water Safety Night at the Cedar Rapids Kernels Ball Park on June 25th at 6:35 P.M. Baseball enthusiast are encouraged to come out and cheer on the Kernel baseball team and learn more about water safety. Bobber, the Water Safety Dog will be joining Mr. Shucks at the ballpark to throw out the first pitch. The first 250 people who enter the stadium will receive a backpack filled with various water safety items.
  • Reservable Campsites to Increase at Lake Red Rock in 2017

    The popularity of the campsite reservation program at Lake Red Rock has grown significantly in recent years. In response to demand, the Corps of Engineers will expand the program in 2017. At that time, all sites in Howell Station, North Overlook, Wallashuck and Whitebreast campgrounds will be reservable.
  • Corps Temporarily Modifies Saylorville and Red Rock Reservoir Water Releases

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, initiated a temporary modification to outflows today at Saylorville and Red Rock reservoirs to preserve flood storage capacity. This also allows the Corps to identify any unknown impacts as it evaluates the modification as a permanent change to the reservoirs’ water control plans.
  • Army Corps of Engineers seeks public comments on on proposal to renew and revise nationwide permits

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today it is seeking comments on its proposal to renew and revise 50 nationwide permits for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. In addition, USACE is proposing to issue two new nationwide permits that pertain to authorizing the removal of low-head dams and the construction and maintenance of living shorelines.
