  • Corps to host public open house to gather input on Green Island Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, in partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, is hosting a public open house Nov. 2 to discuss plans for ecosystem restoration in Mississippi River Pool 13 near Green Island, Iowa. The public open house is scheduled from 4-6 p.m. at the Hurstville Interpretive Center located at 18670 63rd St., Maquoketa, Iowa.
  • Portion of Prairie Flower Campground roadway to close for resurfacing

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, announces a portion of the road which serves as part of the Neal Smith Trail in Prairie Flower Campground at Saylorville Lake will temporarily close for resurfacing starting Oct. 16. The closure will extend from the Prairie Flower Campground entrance building, north to where the road ends and becomes the northernmost entry point for the trail. The closure is anticipated to last until Nov. 3.
  • Groundbreaking to mark start of local habitat restoration project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will host a public groundbreaking ceremony October 4 to mark the start of construction for the Steamboat Island Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project near Princeton, Iowa. The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. at the public access area on the south side of the Princeton Wildlife Management Area at 26545 285th Ave., Princeton, Iowa.
  • Corps seeks public comments on potential Wacouta Bay restoration project

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is seeking public comments on a draft Environmental Assessment, or EA, for a proposed ecosystem restoration project in Wacouta Bay.
  • Bob Shetler Campground to be Closed for 2024 Recreation Season

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, announces the Bob Shetler Campground at Saylorville Lake will be closed throughout the 2024 recreation season to facilitate upgrades and repairs to water and sewer line systems.
  • Mississippi River Commission to host public meeting in Burlington, Iowa

    The Mississippi River Commission will host a public meeting August 15 onboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI along the Burlington, Iowa, riverfront. The meeting will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All meetings are open to the public and interested parties are invited to present their concerns, ideas and issues to the Commission during the meeting.
  • Corps of Engineers to host two open house events onboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, will provide two opportunities for the public to tour the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI at no cost while it’s visiting the region. Public open houses will take place: Saturday, August 12 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at River Heritage Park in downtown Davenport, Iowa Sunday, August 13 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Mississippi Riverwalk at the Port of Dubuque, in Dubuque, Iowa The vessel will be in the region as part of the Mississippi River Commission’s Low Water Inspection trip. The open houses will provide information about the importance of the Mississippi River System and the diversity of uses and users along the waterway.
  • Roadwork Across Coralville Dam Begins July 24

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, will seal the roadway across Coralville Dam July 24-28. One lane will be open with intermittent closures from West Overlook Road, across the dam, and including portions of Prairie Du Chien Road. Delays should be expected through this area.
  • Corps of Engineers wants public feedback on Wacouta Bay restoration study

    ST. PAUL, Minn. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, is seeking public comments on the Wacouta Bay ecosystem restoration study, and will host a public meeting Aug. 21, from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at Red Wing Public Library, Foot Room. The library is located at 225 East Ave, Red Wing, Minnesota.
