Navigational charts are helpful tools for new boaters looking to learn the river as well as long time boaters looking to refresh their memory of an area. These charts include features such as navigable sloughs, open channel areas, hazardous areas, historical features, bridge clearances, locks and dams, and other facilities.
 
Charts can be purchased from the Illinois Waterway Visitor Center in the following ways:

• In person at the Illinois Waterway located at Starved Rock Lock and Dam (950 North 27th Road, Ottawa, Ill.)
