12th Ave. SE Floodgate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
The 12th Ave. SE Floodgate is part of the Cedar Rapids Flood Risk Management Project which is a cost-share project between the city of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and USACE.​ The project involves construction of a protection system on the east side of the Cedar River and is part of the city’s larger effort to protect the city on both the east and west sides. ​It includes 3.7 miles of levees and flood walls, seven pump stations and eight road closures, four railroad closures, 3,000 feet of channel modifications and nearly 100 utility relocations. ​ ​
