12th Ave. SE Floodgate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
The 12th Ave. SE Floodgate is part of the Cedar Rapids Flood Risk Management Project which is a cost-share project between the city of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and USACE. The project involves construction of a protection system on the east side of the Cedar River and is part of the city’s larger effort to protect the city on both the east and west sides. It includes 3.7 miles of levees and flood walls, seven pump stations and eight road closures, four railroad closures, 3,000 feet of channel modifications and nearly 100 utility relocations.
