ROCK ISLAND, Ill – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District recently awarded $5,502,296.50 for two Des Moines-area contracts slated for completion in 2010. The contract work repairs and replaces Department of the Army infrastructure at Saylorville Lake.
Saylorville Lake Rock Repairs
$3,793,882.50 to Peterson Contractors, Inc., of Reinbeck, Iowa, for rock replacement and repairs at Saylorville Lake in Polk County, Iowa. Work under the contract includes removal and re-installment of existing miscellaneous facilities as well as clearing and grubbing, regrading and construction of access roads. The contract also includes embankment reshaping and placement of new bedding stone with any incidental related work to be completed by spring 2010. Saylorville Lake Marina, Boat Ramp Demolition and Replacement
$1,708,414.00 to Jensen Construction Company of Des Moines, Iowa, for the Saylorville Lake Marina boat ramp demolition and replacement in Polk County, Iowa. Work under the contract includes demolition and removal of the Portland cement concrete boat ramp, clearing and grubbing, debris removal as well as removal of material that has been used to fill voids, placement of a cofferdam, pumping and placement of a reinforced Portland cement concrete boat ramp with integral curb, construction of bank riprap, a riprap channel, and the creation of fish habitat with salvaged boat ramp concrete.
