ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (April 12, 2013) – The Rock Island District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as well as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources invite the public to attend an open house for the Environmental Management Program’s Huron Island Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project. The open house will be held April 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at City Hall, 510 Main Street, Mediapolis, Iowa.
The purpose of this open house is to discuss and gather comments from the public on the draft report findings. The Corps proposes to rehabilitate and enhance Huron Island through a variety of measures which benefit the aquatic habitats and improve other functions of the island.
At the open house, Corps of Engineers, Fish and Wildlife Service and Iowa Department of Natural Resources personnel will be available to explain the results of the draft report. Public comments about the proposed project’s features will be welcomed.
