The Geotechnical Branch provides Engineering Services pertaining to surface and subsurface explorations, foundation, and embankment design, site investigation underseepage, slope protections, construction materials development, and other functions pertaining to geology, concrete materials, and soil mechanics engineering.  The section coordinates the District’s Dam Safety Program.  It provides expert advice on safety of water retaining structures concerning soils, concrete, seepage, and slope stability.  Additional services include: Analyze soil tests in connection with survey reports and design memoranda; Perform seepage analysis, slope stability designs and settlement computation, wave analysis, and select engineering characteristics for soils and rock; and Plan and conduct geological, geo-hydrologic, and geophysical investigations and studies concerning foundation design, mineral resources, groundwater, and inventory for Environmental impact statements.
