The Geotechnical Branch provides engineering services for surface and subsurface explorations, foundation, and embankment design, site investigation underseepage, slope protections, construction materials development, and other functions pertaining to geology, concrete materials, and soil mechanics engineering.
The Branch coordinates the District’s Dam Safety Program providing expert advice on safety of water-retaining structures concerning soils, concrete, seepage, and slope stability.
Additional services include analyzing soil tests in connection with survey reports and design memoranda, performing seepage analysis, slope stability designs and settlement computation, wave analysis, select engineering characteristics for soils and rock, and planning and conducting geological, geo-hydrologic, and geophysical investigations and studies concerning foundation design, mineral resources, groundwater, and inventory for Environmental impact statements.
