Public Input Sought on Cedar Rapids Flood Risk Management Project Draft Environmental Assessment

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - The U.S Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District is seeking public review and comment regarding a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Flood Risk Management Project.

The draft EA was prepared as a supplement to the 2011 Feasibility Report for the project and addresses an expansion of the National Economic Development Plan to include the North Industrial Reach, alteration of the lower reach of the McLoud Run, replacement of the 8th Avenue Bridge, and a redesigned levee at the downstream tie-off. The purpose of the Cedar Rapids Flood Risk Management Project is to reduce the existing and future flood risk and damages to public and private infrastructure and facilities in the city from high water events on the Cedar River.
