    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (June 14) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Illinois Waterway Visitor Center will reopen Saturday following record level flooding on the Illinois River in April.

    MARSEILLES, Ill — (June 7) The Unified Command announced Friday that an area of the Illinois River near the Marseilles Dam will be temporarily closed Monday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., due to salvage operations being conducted to remove two remaining submerged barges.

  • Corps activates Emergency Operations Center to provide flood-fight support

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (May 31) – In response to National Weather Service forecasts predicting the potential for major flooding in areas along the Upper Mississippi and Illinois rivers and their tributaries, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, activated its Emergency Operations Center on Tuesday, May 28. The District has also opened its remote Emergency Operations Center in the Quincy, Ill., area May 30, to more quickly address flood response needs.
  • Corps closing additional Mississippi River locks

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – (May 31) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, will be closing four additional locks on the Mississippi River due to high river levels. The closures are necessary as the Mississippi River overtops lock gates making the locks inoperable.
