  • Corps hosts open house to discuss Starved Rock Pool Critical Restoration Project

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Aug. 29) – The public is invited to attend an open house at the Illinois Waterway Visitor Center, 950 N 27TH Road, Ottawa, Ill., on Sept. 4 between 5 and 7 p.m. The open house is an opportunity to discuss the draft report findings for the Critical Restoration Project to restore waterfowl habitat in the lower Starved Rock Pool.

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Aug. 28) – The City of Davenport’s Riverfront Trail alongside the Iowa American Water Company’s East River Station Treatment Plant will not reopen to public access for the Labor Day weekend due to the ongoing construction work required to complete the trail and its surroundings.
  • MRES awards contract for bike trail extension near Red Rock Dam

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – In conjunction with its plans to build a hydroelectric facility at the Red Rock Dam in Marion County, Iowa, the Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) Board of Directors approved a contract for construction of a 7,000-foot extension of the Volksweg Bike Trail near the dam.

  • CAMPER CRAFT SHOW AT THOMSON CAUSEWAY RECREATION AREA

    Thomson, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project will hold the Annual Camper Craft Show on Saturday, September 07, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Thomson Causeway Day Use Picnic Shelter. The craft show is a special event designed to complement the natural environment of the Mississippi River with handmade crafts that campers have skillfully created.
  • Mississippi River Commission holds public meeting in Dubuque aboard MV Mississippi

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Aug. 6) – The Corps of Engineers is hosting a public meeting aboard the Motor Vessel (MV) Mississippi on Aug. 13 at 1 p.m. at the River’s Edge Plaza in Dubuque, Iowa. The public meeting is held as part of the Mississippi River Commission’s Low Water Inspection trip that runs Aug. 12-16. The MRC conducts the annual trip to inspect Corps of Engineers projects along the Upper Mississippi River.
