SYSTEMIC FOREST MANAGEMENT     

The Systemic Forest Management Project will be implemented across the St. Paul, Rock Island, and St. Louis Districts.

Implementation areas include:

St. Paul District (MVP)

  • Goose Island, Mississippi River Pool 8, Woody Invasive Plant Control
  • Comprehensive Forest Inventory, Mississippi River Pools 5 - 9

Rock Island District (MVR)

  • Comprehensive Forest Inventory, Mississippi River Pools 11, 17-18 & 21

St. Louis District (MVS)

  • Portage Island and Cuivre Islands, Mississippi River Pool 26, Tree Planting and Invasive Plant Control
     

The primary purpose of the Systemic Forest Management Project is to maintain a healthy, nearly contiguous forest that spreads across wide stretches of the flood plain and contains a sufficient diversity of tree species, size , and age classes to provide a wide array of habitat structure and food resources.
