Andalusia Island Complex

The Andalusia Island Complex project is a habitat restoration project located in Pool 16 of the Upper Mississippi River, approximately four miles west of Andalusia, Illinois. The purpose of the project is to create and protect overwintering fish habitat and restore floodplain forest habitat in the area.

The tentatively selected plan for the project includes excavating deepwater habitat in backwater lakes, construction of sediment/flow reduction underwater berms, and construction of upland earthen berms for trees and native vegetation.

The estimated total cost of this project is greater than $10 million.
