  • Thomson Causeway Recreation Area Partially Open for Weekend

    Thomson, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces the partial reopening of the Thomson Causeway Recreation Area at 12:00 pm noon on Friday July 5, 2013. The recreation area had been closed due to flooding.

  • Grant River Recreation Area Reopens

    Potosi, WI - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces the reopening of the Grant River Recreation Area at 4 pm on July 3, 2013.

  • Locks and Dam # 15 Tours Cancelled

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces that tours of Locks and Dam #15 will be cancelled on July 6th and 7th. The Mississippi River Visitor Center will still remain open during this time.

  • Corps activates Emergency Operations Center to provide flood-fight support

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (June 26) – In response to the recent heavy rains and the National Weather Service forecasts predicting the potential for major flooding in areas along the Upper Mississippi River and tributaries, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, activated its Emergency Operations Center today for the third time since April.

  • Mississippi River locks closing due to high water

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – (June 26) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, is expecting to close six locks on the Mississippi River due to rising river levels. The closures are necessary as the Mississippi River overtops lock gates making the locks inoperable.

  • Rising river forces closure of recreation areas for third time

    Muscatine, IA - The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces the continued full closure of Blanchard Island, Kilpeck Landing, and Ferry Landing Recreation Areas. Partial closures of Shady Creek, Andalusia Slough, and Clark’s Ferry are also taking effect.
