• U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hosts ribbon cutting ceremony

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Oct. 21) – The public and media are invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the substantial completion of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers flood risk management project protecting the Davenport, Iowa, Iowa American Water Treatment Plant in Davenport, Iowa. The ceremony, hosted by the Corps’ Rock Island District, takes place Oct. 24 at 9:30 a.m. on the grounds of the water treatment plant which is located near the intersection of Mound Street and River Drive, across from the East Village of Davenport.

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – (Oct. 15) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Rock Island District today announced it will close its Regulatory office due to the absence of available federal funding. The Regulatory office will be unable to evaluate individual permit applications, pre-construction notifications (PCNs) for nationwide permit (NWP) or regional general permit authorizations, or requests for jurisdictional determinations until after current year funding is received and the offices reopen.

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Sept. 30) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, is preparing for a potential federal government shutdown due to lack of funding. If unfunded on Oct. 1, shutdown of all activities other than excepted activities will occur. Excepted activities will be minimally staffed to protect against imminent threats to life and property or to continue support to maintain national security.
  • Army Corps of Engineers waives fees on National Public Lands Day, Sept. 28

    WASHINGTON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced that it will waive day use fees at its more than 2,400 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in recognition of National Public Lands Day on Sept. 28. On this day, fees normally charged at boat launch ramps and swimming beaches will be waived.
