  • Camp for Free: Summer Volunteers Needed at Lake Red Rock

    Spend the summer camping at Lake Red Rock for free! The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will provide a free, full-hookup campsite to volunteers willing to provide custodial service at: North Overlook beach, Whitebreast beach, Whitebreast campground and Wallashuck campground. Volunteers are needed from late April through September 2014.   • Mississippi River Visitor Center - OPEN HOUSE

    Rock Island, IL - You are cordially invited to attend an Open House at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mississippi River Visitor Center located at Locks and Dam #15 on the Rock island Arsenal. The Open House will run all day on Friday January 24, 2014 from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces that the Visitor Center at Locks and Dam #15 is inviting guests to participate in Historic Clock Tower and Eagle Watching Tours.

  • Muscatine Bald Eagle Watch 2014

    Muscatine, IA-The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project invites the public to enjoy a day of eagle viewing. The annual Bald Eagle Watch, a part of the Eagles and Ivories Ragtime Weekend Festival held in Muscatine, Iowa, will take place Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • Winner, South Dakota native Randy Braley receives Order of the de Fleury Medal

    Randy Braley, whose hometown is Winner, S.D., was awarded the Bronze Order of the de Fleury Medal by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District Commander, Col. Mark Deschenes, during an awards ceremony Dec. 9 at the Naval Reserve Center on Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Ill.

  • 30th Annual Clinton Bald Eagle Watch

    Clinton, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mississippi River Project, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Clinton Community College, and the Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge will be hosting the 30th Annual Clinton Bald Eagle Watch on Saturday January 4, 2014.

  • Lock and Dam #18 Recreation Area Closing

    Gladstone, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces the Lock and Dam #18 Recreation Area closure from December 18th through March 4th for downstream lock bulkhead slots installation.

  • "National Water Trail" Designation for Lake Red Rock

    The Red Rock Trail at Lake Red Rock, Knoxville, Iowa, has officially been designated as a National Water Trail by the National Park Service. Joining the Red Rock Trail is The Island Loop Route Water Trail in Michigan and The Missouri National Recreation River Water Trail that flows through South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa. These three trails join 11 previously dedicated water trails across the country.

  • Lock and Dam 22 Boat Ramp to be Closed

    Saverton, MO - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mississippi River Project announces that Lock and Dam 22 boat ramp and parking lot will be closed to the public from December 2, 2013 through March 14, 2014 due to major construction to Lock 22.
