Three Public Meetings Scheduled to Discuss Brandon Road Draft Report

Due to high demand, Mississippi River Visitor Center receives extra senior passes

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mississippi River Visitor Center has received a new shipment of $10 America the Beautiful - Senior Passes, which had previously been sold out and were not expected to be replaced. This is the only facility within the Rock Island District that will have passes available. The passes, which have been in high demand since a price increase was announced in July, are available to all U.S. citizens age 62 or older and provide entrance to federally operated recreation sites across the country. Corps releases draft report related to preventing spread of Asian carp into the Great Lakes

REMINDER: Fireworks prohibited on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers property

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, reminds everyone that possession of explosives or explosive devices of any kind, including fireworks and other pyrotechnics, on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers property is prohibited. This prohibition applies to all recreation areas at Saylorville Lake, Lake Red Rock and Coralville Lake as well as Corps of Engineers locations along the Illinois Waterway and Mississippi River. Lock and Dam 16 Visitor Overlook Access

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces that beginning on Friday, June 23rd, access to the Lock and Dam 16 visitor overlook will be closed due to construction activities. There will not be a lock and dam tour this Sunday. The visitor overlook will re-open on Monday, June 26th. Corps Invites Public Comment on Farm Creek Master Planning

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to conduct visitor surveys

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will conduct visitor surveys this summer at Lake Red Rock and Saylorville Lake near Des Moines, Iowa, June 10 through Sept. 10. Visitors exiting these two recreation facilities will be asked about their length of stay and overall experience. Participation in the survey is voluntary. [Read More]

President's Fiscal 2018 Budget for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works Program released

The President’s Budget for fiscal year 2018 (FY 2018) includes $5.002 billion in gross discretionary funding for the Civil Works program of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps). "The fiscal 2018 Civil Works budget for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reflects the administration's priorities to support and improve the nation's economy and infrastructure, and to protect the American people," said Mr. Doug Lamont, senior official performing the duties of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works. "This Budget supports the core mission areas of coastal and inland navigation, reducing flood risks from riverine flooding and along our coasts, and restoring aquatic ecosystems.” [Read More]
