    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces the reopening of the Grant River Recreation Area at 4 pm on July 18, 2014.
  • Partial Opening for Thomson Recreation Areas

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces that the some of the Thomson Recreation Areas are beginning to reopen or partially reopen as flood waters recede and the areas are cleaned up and made safe for public entry.
  • Locks and Dam # 15 Tours Cancelled

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces that tours of Locks and Dam #15 will be cancelled due to high water beginning July 4th until further notice. The Mississippi River Visitor Center will still remain open during this time. Our hours of operation are: Tuesday – Saturday from 9:00am - 5:00pm
  • Grant River Recreation Area Closed

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces that the Grant River Recreation Area will be closed beginning today, Tuesday, July 1st, until further notice due to the rising flood waters of the Mississippi River. The recreation area will be re-opened as soon as the water recedes and the area is clean and safe for visitors.
  • Boating Safety Education Class

    Quincy, Ill. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mississippi River Project announces that the Quincy Park Rangers will be instructing an Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IL DNR) Boating Safety Education Class on Saturday, June 14 at Adams County Farm Bureau from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • New Visitor Center Hours

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mississippi River Project announces that the Visitor Center located at Locks and Dam 15 will be closed on Sundays and Mondays until further notice beginning June 15, 2014. The Visitor Center will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and will be offering normally scheduled tours and programming on these days.
  • Lock and Dam #16 Tours

    Muscatine, IA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project invites the public to enjoy a tour of Lock and Dam #16. Every Sunday from May 25, 2014 through August 31, 2014 at 2:00 PM, weather permitting, tours of Locks and Dam #16 will be conducted for the public. A special Memorial Day weekend tour will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 2:00 PM.
  • Campground Programs at Corps of Engineers Parks

    Muscatine, IA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project invites campers and the visiting public to attend campground programs held at Shady Creek Recreation Area and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ Fairport Fish Hatchery. Throughout the summer, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, presenters will cover a host of topics for all to enjoy.
  • IL DNR Boating Safety Education Class

    Quincy, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mississippi River Project announces that the Quincy Park Rangers will be teaching an Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IL DNR) Boating Safety Education Class. The eight (8) hour class is free and course subjects include: Basic boating safety; Equipment requirements; Motorboat registration and titling; Illinois boating laws; Navigation; Personal watercraft (PWC); and Emergency measures.
  • Blanding Landing Recreation Area Opens for the 2014 Season
