  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers preparing for possible government shutdown

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (Sept. 30) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, is preparing for a potential federal government shutdown due to lack of funding. If unfunded on Oct. 1, shutdown of all activities other than excepted activities will occur. Excepted activities will be minimally staffed to protect against imminent threats to life and property or to continue support to maintain national security.

    Thomson, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project’s 22nd Annual Photo Contest deadline is quickly approaching. Photo submissions should be turned in by August 23, at 4:00 p.m., to the Thomson Ranger Office.

  • CAMPER CRAFT SHOW AT THOMSON CAUSEWAY RECREATION AREA

    Thomson, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project will hold the Annual Camper Craft Show on Saturday, September 07, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Thomson Causeway Day Use Picnic Shelter. The craft show is a special event designed to complement the natural environment of the Mississippi River with handmade crafts that campers have skillfully created.

    Muscatine, IA-The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project invites the public to enjoy a tour of Lock and Dam #16. Every Sunday from May 26, 2013 through September 1, 2013 at 2:00 PM, weather permitting, tours of Locks and Dam #16 will be conducted for the public.

    Muscatine, IA-The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project invites campers and the visiting public to attend campground programs held at Clark’s Ferry and Shady Creek Recreation Areas. Throughout the summer, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, presenters will cover a host of topics for all to enjoy.

  • Free Weekday Tours of Locks and Dam # 15

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces they will be offering to the public free weekday tours of Locks and Dam #15. These special tours will be conducted on Mondays and Fridays from 11:00-12:00 (weather permitting). These tours will begin on July 22nd and run through August 23rd.

  • Locks and Dam # 15 Tours Cancelled July 21

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces that tours of Locks and Dam #15 will be cancelled on July 21st. The Mississippi River Visitor Center will still remain open during this time.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project is inviting guests to come experience a campground program on Wood Whittling. Join Berry Williams as he shares his knowledge of whittling using little more than a pocket knife and a piece of wood. Visitors are invited to attend this program on Saturday, July 20th at 7:00pm
