  • Saylorville Lake “No Motorized Vessel Zone Lifts 1 September”

    Johnston, Iowa - During much of 2015 there has been a new boating policy on Saylorville Lake. This policy calls for a seasonal; “No Motorized Vessel Zone” North of the Mile Long Bridge, in the very shallow upper reaches of the reservoir, locally identified as the “mud flats” from April 1st to August 31st during periods of near normal conservation pools (below 840’ NGVD). The No Motorized vessel zone will be lifted 1 September 2015 through 31 March 2016.

  • Coralville Lake Adopt-A-Trail Program

    The Coralville Lake Adopt-A-Trail Program welcomes your interest! School and youth groups, scout troops, church, community and service organizations, businesses, families, individuals or groups of individuals can adopt a trail. Activities of the Coralville Lake Adopt-A-Trail Program may include, partnering with Natural Resource Specialists and Park Ranger, litter removal, planting and/or maintenance trees, shrubs, wildflowers and native grasse, beautification project, trail maintenance, reporting trail issues and/or assisting with special events.     Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces that the Visitor Center at Locks and Dam #15 is inviting guests to a bicycle tour of historic Arsenal Island.

  • Camper Craft Show at Thomson Causeway Recreation Area

    Thomson, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project will hold the Annual Camper Craft Show on Saturday, September 5th, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Thomson Causeway Day Use Picnic Shelter.

  • Corps of Engineers to Host Sangamon River Conceptual Modeling Workshop Town Hall

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, will host a Town Hall meeting on Thursday, August 13, to discuss the results of the recent Sangamon River Conceptual Modeling Workshop and to receive input and ideas from the public regarding sedimentation concerns associated with the Sangamon and Illinois rivers. The Town Hall meeting will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Beardstown City Council Chamber located at 105 W. 3rd Street in Beardstown, Illinois.

  • Clark’s Ferry Campground Now Open

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, Mississippi River Project announces the opening of Clark’s Ferry Campground on August 7, 2015. Necessary repairs to the campground well and potable drinking water system have been completed allowing the park to reopen to visitors.

  • Blue - Green Algae at Saylorville Lake

    Johnston, Iowa - Sandpiper and Oak Grove Beaches at Saylorville Lake have been closed in response to the presence of a blue-green algae bloom which has the potential to impact the health of humans and their pets. Routine water quality monitoring performed at the lake has identified high levels of microcystin, a compound produced by blue-green algae under certain environmental conditions.

  • Panel of experts commends work at Red Rock Hydroelectric Project

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – An Independent Expert Peer Review Panel (IEPR) praised the work and diligence of the engineers, contractors, and Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) following an onsite review of the Red Rock Hydroelectric Project site June 20 – July 1. This was the IEPR’s second onsite review since construction of the project began. The first was in January.

  • Corps Hosts Open House for Coralville Lake Master Plan Revision

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, is revising the Coralville Lake Master Plan and will be hosting a public scoping open house on Wednesday, July 8, from 2 – 7 p.m. at the South Slope Community Center located at 980 North Front Street, North Liberty, Iowa. The purpose of the open house is to informally meet with individuals and groups to discuss the Coralville Lake Master Plan revision. This will provide the public an opportunity to learn about the status of natural resource and recreation activities, provide comments on land management issues and resource objectives, and give feedback on their interests as it relates to Coralville Lake.
