• U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and partners host open house to discuss Huron Island Rehabilitation Project

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (April 12, 2013) – The Rock Island District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as well as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources invite the public to attend an open house for the Environmental Management Program’s Huron Island Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project. The open house will be held April 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at City Hall, 510 Main Street, Mediapolis, Iowa.

(April 12, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, invites the public to attend a meeting to discuss dredging and placement of dredged material near Lock and Dam 20 in Canton, Mo. The meeting is April 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Canton City Hall, 106 N 5th Street, Canton.

    Andalusia, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project invites you to celebrate Earth Day by participating in a cleanup at Andalusia Slough along the Mississippi River. Free lunch will be provided following the day’s work. This event will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Andalusia Slough Recreation Area.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project has created a Nature Backpack Program in an effort to provide an opportunity to encourage children to learn more about the natural world. The nature backpacks contain many different indoor and outdoor activities to engage children.

  • Corps awards $4 million contract to build Mississippi River islands in Pool 9

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded a $4 million contract to McHugh Excavating and Plumbing, Inc., of Onalaska, Wis., Feb. 5 to begin construction on the second and final stage of its Capoli Slough Islands habitat restoration project, taking place five miles south of Lansing, Iowa, in Pool 9 on the Mississippi River.
