  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and partners host open house to discuss Huron Island Rehabilitation Project

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (April 12, 2013) – The Rock Island District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as well as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources invite the public to attend an open house for the Environmental Management Program’s Huron Island Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project. The open house will be held April 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at City Hall, 510 Main Street, Mediapolis, Iowa.

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hosts public meeting about dredging near Lock and Dam 20 near Canton, Mo.

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (April 12, 2013) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, invites the public to attend a meeting to discuss dredging and placement of dredged material near Lock and Dam 20 in Canton, Mo. The meeting is April 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Canton City Hall, 106 N 5th Street, Canton.

  • FREE Boating Safety Classes

    Pleasant Valley, IA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces they will be offering free boating safety education classes. The classes will be held on the following dates: April 13th and April 27th.

  • Kilpeck Landing Recreation Area Closed Until Further Notice

    Grandview, IA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces that Kilpeck Landing Recreation Area located north of Grandview, IA is closed until further notice. Please contact the Muscatine Park Ranger Office at (563) 263-7913 for more information.

  • Volunteer Needed at Corps of Engineers Park

    Muscatine, IA-The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mississippi River Project is looking for a fulltime Volunteer Campground Host at Blanchard Island Recreation Area. The Volunteer Campground Host position runs from May 15, 2013 through October 15, 2013.

  • Earth Day Cleanup at Andalusia Slough

    Andalusia, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project invites you to celebrate Earth Day by participating in a cleanup at Andalusia Slough along the Mississippi River. Free lunch will be provided following the day’s work. This event will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Andalusia Slough Recreation Area.

  • Nature Backpacks in Corps Parks

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project has created a Nature Backpack Program in an effort to provide an opportunity to encourage children to learn more about the natural world. The nature backpacks contain many different indoor and outdoor activities to engage children.

  • FREE Boating Safety Classes

    Pleasant Valley, IA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces they will be offering five different opportunities to attend a free boating safety education class. The classes will be held on the following dates: March 16th, March 30th, April 13th, April 27th, and May 11th 2013.

  • Corps awards $4 million contract to build Mississippi River islands in Pool 9

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded a $4 million contract to McHugh Excavating and Plumbing, Inc., of Onalaska, Wis., Feb. 5 to begin construction on the second and final stage of its Capoli Slough Islands habitat restoration project, taking place five miles south of Lansing, Iowa, in Pool 9 on the Mississippi River.
