    PLEASANT VALLEY, Iowa – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project will be opening the Auxiliary Lock located at Locks and Dam 14 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, for recreational boating traffic starting June 28. The lock will be open for use Fridays from 4-10 p.m., Saturdays Noon-10 p.m., and Sundays Noon-10 p.m. The lock is anticipated to remain open on weekends until Sept. 2

  • 35th Annual Clinton Bald Eagle Watch

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mississippi River Project, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Clinton Community College, Clinton Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge will be hosting the 35th Annual Bald Eagle Watch on Saturday January 5, 2019. Educational programs and environmental exhibits will be held at the Clinton Community College. Eagle viewing will be held at Lock and Dam #13 in Fulton, Illinois.
  • Halloween Event Canceled at Shady Creek Recreation Area

    ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, has canceled the Trick-or-Treat Halloween event, scheduled for October 27, at the Shady Creek Recreation Area near Muscatine, Iowa. The event was canceled due to ongoing flooding along the Mississippi River and the need for extensive cleanup once river levels recede.
  • Locks and Dam 15 Tours

    Rock Island, IL- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces they will be offering free tours of Locks and Dam #15 every Saturday and Sunday through Labor Day. These tours will be offered at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and will each last one hour. While walking around the locks, visitors will learn about the history of the Locks and Dam #15, the Government Bridge and how they both work.
