  • 35th Annual Clinton Bald Eagle Watch

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Mississippi River Project, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Clinton Community College, Clinton Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge will be hosting the 35th Annual Bald Eagle Watch on Saturday January 5, 2019. Educational programs and environmental exhibits will be held at the Clinton Community College. Eagle viewing will be held at Lock and Dam #13 in Fulton, Illinois.
  • Halloween Event Canceled at Shady Creek Recreation Area

    ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, has canceled the Trick-or-Treat Halloween event, scheduled for October 27, at the Shady Creek Recreation Area near Muscatine, Iowa. The event was canceled due to ongoing flooding along the Mississippi River and the need for extensive cleanup once river levels recede.
  • Locks and Dam 15 Tours

    Rock Island, IL- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces they will be offering free tours of Locks and Dam #15 every Saturday and Sunday through Labor Day. These tours will be offered at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and will each last one hour. While walking around the locks, visitors will learn about the history of the Locks and Dam #15, the Government Bridge and how they both work.
  • Auxiliary Lock Opens for Season at Lock 14

    PLEASANT VALLEY, Iowa – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project is opening the Auxiliary Lock located Lock and Dam 14 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, for recreational boating traffic starting May 25 and running through Sept. 3, 2018.
  • Temporary Closure to Smith's Island Recreation Area

    ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project will be temporarily closing Smith's Island Recreation Area at Lock and Dam 14 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa, for environmental restoration work beginning on March 12.
  • FREE Boating Safety Classes

    Rock Island, IL-The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces they will be offering multiple opportunities to attend a free boating safety education class. The classes will be held on the following dates: April 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th. Each class will run from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and only one 8 hour class is required to complete your certification.

    Muscatine, IA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project invites the public to enjoy a day of eagle viewing. Our annual Bald Eagle Watch, a part of the Eagles and Ivories Ragtime Weekend Festival held in Muscatine, Iowa, will take place Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Pearl City Station in Riverside Park, 100 Harbor Drive, Muscatine, Iowa.
  • Historic Clock Tower and Eagle Watch Tours

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces that the Visitor Center at Locks and Dam #15 is inviting guests to participate in Historic Clock Tower and Eagle Watching Tours. Learn about the Historic Clock Tower building as you climb the stairs to the top. Waiting there is a spectacular view of the Mississippi River where you will have the opportunity to see Bald Eagles who visit our area during the cold winter months.
  • Lock and Dam #18 Public Access Closing

    Muscatine, IA - The Lock and Dam #18 public viewing and overlook area will be closed from December 1, 2017 through March 10, 2018. Construction activities during this time prevent public access. The Henderson Creek Boat Ramp located just south of Lock and Dam #18 will remain open for public access.
