  • Clark’s Ferry Campground Now Open

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, Mississippi River Project announces the opening of Clark’s Ferry Campground on August 7, 2015. Necessary repairs to the campground well and potable drinking water system have been completed allowing the park to reopen to visitors.
  • Corps Hosts Open House Events for Public Input on Mississippi River Master Plan

    ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, is revising its Mississippi River Master Plan and is hosting several public scoping open house events to gain public input. Each open house will offer brief overview presentations hourly, informational posters and Corps staff on hand to answer questions about the Master Plan as well as natural resource and recreational opportunities within the Mississippi River Project.
  • Free Tours of Locks and Dam #15

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces they will be offering free tours of Locks and Dam #15 every Saturday and Sunday through Labor Day. These tours will be offered at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and will each last one hour.
  • Corps Promotes Emerald Ash Borer Awareness for Memorial Day Weekend

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, will be wrapping ash trees at recreation areas including Saylorville Lake, Lake Red Rock, Coralville Lake and the Mississippi River Project to bring awareness of the invasive Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) to visitors during the Memorial Day weekend. Each ash tree wrapped will show the detrimental effects the EAB could have on recreation areas in the Rock Island District if infestations are allowed to spread.
  • Mississippi River Visitor Center Extending its Hours

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces that the Visitor Center located at Locks and Dam 15 will be extending its hours. For the month of May the Visitor Center will be open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Then beginning in June and running through Labor Day the Visitor Center will be open 7 days a week from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Final Free Boating Safety Classes

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces they will be offering their last free boating safety education class. This class will be held on Saturday, May 2nd. The class will run from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and only one 8 hour class is required to complete your certification.
