  • Muscatine Bald Eagle Watch 2017

    Muscatine, IA - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project invites the public to enjoy a day of eagle viewing and activities. The annual Muscatine Bald Eagle Watch will take place Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Pearl City Station in Riverside Park, 100 Harbor Drive, Muscatine, Iowa.

  • Corps to Host Several Public Open House Events for Des Moines River Water Control Plan Update

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District is hosting four public open house events to seek input on updating the Des Moines River Regulation Manual which includes the Water Control Manual for Saylorville Lake and Red Rock Lake. Proposed updates to the Manual will be discussed during the meetings and District staff will be on hand to answer questions and discuss comments, questions and/or concerns regarding the Water Control Plan update.

    President Barack Obama recently appointed Brigadier General Mark Toy as a member of the Mississippi River Commission. MRC appointments are nominated by the President of the United States and vetted by the U.S. Senate.

    ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project is hosting its annual Trick-or-Treat in the Park at the Thomson Causeway Recreation Area in Thomson, Illinois. The event will be held on Saturday, October 15 from 3 - 5 p.m. Thomson Causeway is located on the west side of Thomson, Illinois, on Lewis Avenue off Main Street.

  • Recreation Areas Reopen as Water Recedes

    ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project is reopening several recreation areas along the Mississippi River that were recently closed due to flooding.

  • Lock and Dam 16 Visitor Overlook Access

    ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – Beginning Monday, Sept. 19, access to the Lock and Dam 16 visitor overlook will be restricted due to construction activities at Lock and Dam 16. The visitor overlook will remain closed during construction activities which are scheduled to conclude in mid-March 2017. Limited access to the visitor overlook will be available during special events such as the Eagles and Ivories Ragtime Weekend, January 27-29, 2017. Winter is a popular time at the visitor overlook due to the large concentrations of eagles that roost near the dam. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
