  • Corps Invites Public Comment on Des Moines River Water Control Plan Update

    ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District is in the process of updating the Des Moines River Regulation Manual and is inviting public comment through March 31 from anyone wishing to provide input. A copy of the current manual and a link to a video presentation, used by the Rock Island District during public scoping meetings, can be found at https://go.usa.gov/xXqmx. The video and website provide detailed information about proposed updates to the Des Moines River Water Control Plan that includes the Water Control Manuals for Saylorville Lake and Lake Red Rock.
  • FREE Boating Safety Classes

    Rock Island, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi River Project announces they will be offering four different opportunities to attend a free boating safety education class. The classes will be held on the following dates: April 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd. Each class will run from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Corps to Host Open House to Discuss Beaver Island Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project

    ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, is hosting a public open house Feb. 21 to discuss an ecosystem restoration plan for the Beaver Island Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project. The public open house will take place from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Erickson Center at 1401 11th Ave. in Clinton, Iowa.

  • Coralville Lake Bald Eagle Watch & Expo

    IOWA CITY, IOWA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Coralville Lake will host the fourth annual Bald Eagle Watch and Expo on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at North Central Junior High, 180 E. Forevergreen Road, North Liberty, Iowa. Outdoor eagle watching will be available at Coralville Lake below the dam at Tailwater West. Co-hosts for the event are the Iowa City Bird Club, Iowa Audubon and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Diversity Program. This event is free to the public and will be held at the two different locations simultaneously.

  • Corps to Host Several Public Open House Events for Des Moines River Water Control Plan Update

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District is hosting four public open house events to seek input on updating the Des Moines River Regulation Manual which includes the Water Control Manual for Saylorville Lake and Red Rock Lake. Proposed updates to the Manual will be discussed during the meetings and District staff will be on hand to answer questions and discuss comments, questions and/or concerns regarding the Water Control Plan update.
