ORGANIZED EVENTS ON FEDERAL LANDS MAY REQUIRE A PERMIT
These include organized events on lands in fee title ownership of the U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS and the U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE.
TRADITIONAL USE or CASUAL USE - Use by small groups of family and friends are generally considered a traditional and informal use that is of no concern from a permit standpoint. Water safety is still of paramount importance, however, traditional river users are typically aware of river hazards.
VERSUS:
ORGANIZED EVENTS - Earmarked by the following characteristics: Proposed events that meet one or more of the listed characteristics may require a permit.
SPONSORED: By an individual, group or organization.
ADVERTISED: By posted flyers, radio, newspaper or word of mouth.
LIVE BAND PERFORMANCES: Fee, free, or by donation.
ENTRANCE FEE OR DONATION ACCEPTEDSALES OR EXCHANGE OF MATERIALS IN RETURN FOR SERVICES OR ENTERTAINMENTFOOD AND ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES PROVIDED: Use of alcohol by minors is of concern. State liquor license as well as vendors license may be required for distribution.LIVERY SERVICE PROVIDED - May require state or county licensing.
OPEN INVITATION TO THE PUBLIC: May bring in many non-river users unfamiliar with the hazards of the river use.
Permits may be issued for those applicants who meet the requirements as spelled out in the information packet for event sponsors.
