USACE awards contract for pump station modification at Saylorville Lake

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, awarded a contract to Q.B.S. Inc., Alliance, Ohio, for $3,112,900 to perform repairs and modifications to the Big Creek Pump Station at Saylorville Lake on the Des Moines River in Polk County, Iowa.

The project includes, but is not limited to, developing and producing a design-build contract to make various repairs and improvements to the existing pump station. The pump station moves water from Big Creek Ponding Area into Saylorville Lake, located north of Des Moines, Iowa.

The repairs and improvements include replacement of existing pumps, pump freeze protection, replacing existing gate hoist, installing a new emergency gate hoist and clearing debris from pump station intake.
